NAU MAI, HAERE MAI WELCOME TO
PUKEOWARE  SCHOOL

'We have created a learning environment, which is safe, welcoming and stimulating, and promotes our vision of developing our children into independent, lifelong learners with skills to succeed in the future.'

Kia Ora and welcome to Pukeoware School,

We are a primary school catering to boys and girls from years 1 through 8, situated 5km east of Waiuku in a delightful rural setting.   We have 8 teachers, 5 teacher aides and an office administrator all of whom are immensely proud of our 146-year history of providing quality education to the local children of Waiuku.

Our philosophy at Pukeoware School is to create a learning community where each and every child is at the heart of all that we do and say – supporting, challenging, caring for, and enhancing the lives and learning of Te Akonga o Pukeoware (The Pukeoware Learner).  Through our core curriculum and a wide range of enrichment activities, we are able to provide our children with a well-rounded learning experience, which is exciting and fun.  We have created a learning environment, which is safe, welcoming and stimulating, and promotes our vision of developing our children into independent, lifelong learners with skills to succeed in the future – including enthusiasm, initiative, resilience, flexibility, integrity and compassion.

Our core values of Kaha (strength), Mana (pride), Aroha (caring) and Toa (bravery) are at the core of everything we do, promote and celebrate.  They underpin our teaching and learning, and provide an environment which prepares our children as confident, happy learners.

We challenge our staff to be ‘Agents of C.H.A.N.G.E.’ – superheroes who can make change happen for the benefit of all our akonga (learners).  We set high educational and social standards, and reflect on our performance regularly and carefully to ensure our approach consistently supports modern teaching and assessment.

Our school has a friendly, family feel, and we always have lots going on.  We have great children who are keen to learn, an excellent team of staff who go the extra mile, and a supportive, active Board of Trustees and PTA.  We appreciate the importance of the partnership between home and school, and we work hard to create real opportunities for parents to become involved in the activities of the school and to create strong links with the community.

This website aims to give you a ‘taste’ of our school by providing insight into our learning community, as well as providing regular updated information for both parents and students.  I encourage you to take a good look around to see what we are all about.  If you would like to know more about our school however, please call the school office to make an appointment to come and see us – we’ll even pop the kettle on!

Kind Regards

Malcolm Laurence
