We recognise the benefits to the pupils and the school, of having children and families from the immediate area attending our school. This allows for ease of accessibility to the school and enables families to actively associate with, and participate in, the development and wellbeing of the school. In addition to the physical proximity, the school values an active and supportive relationship with all members of the school community and so recognises the desirability of accommodating entire families within the school community.
In order to maintain the optimum size for our school however, we operate an enrolment scheme. While those children living in our school zone have automatic entitlement to enrolment, others need to make a special application to be considered through a ballot process.
Home Zone / As of Right Enrolments
All students who live within the home zone described below shall be entitled to enrol at the school. The home zone includes the area, bounded by and including:
- Baldhill Road
- Waiuku/Pukekohe Road from the end of Baldhill Road to the end of Morley Road.
- Morley Road
- Waitangi Falls Road
- Hyland Place Road
- Cornwall Road
- Kitchener Road from the end of Cornwall Road to where it meets the Waiuku/Pukekohe Road.
- Waiuku/Pukekohe Road from Kitchener Road to Baldhill Road.
This includes all No Exit roads off the above. Entitlement will include those whose property, or part thereof, bounds any of the above.
Before enrolment, the Principal, parents or caregivers and prospective student should meet to discuss the enrolment process. During this discussion, contact details and emergency contacts are recorded, together with medical information (including allergies), which are all noted for our records. If the enrolling child is a new entrant, please bring:
- Proof of address, such as power or phone account
- Birth certificate or passport (the latter required if born overseas)
- Immunisation record to five years (if you have one)
- Names and daytime contact phone numbers of two emergency contacts (friends or family), and your family doctor
- Previous school report/s if applicable
Parents / caregivers are invited to pre-enrol their child prior to their 5th birthday. This is to enable new entrants to experience pre-school entry visits and allows us to forward plan for staffing and resourcing the school. To pre-enrol, please call the school office on 09 2359443 or email us at email@example.com with your details. Please note that these are pre-enrolment details only. You will need to formally enrol your child at school at a later date.
Out of Zone Enrolments
Each year the Board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The Board will publish this information by notice in a local community newspaper. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.
Enrolment Priority Levels
Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:
Children of parents/caregivers living in the designated in zone area.
Children who have a sibling attending the school.
Children who are siblings of former students.
Children whose parents are currently employed by the Board of Trustees.
Will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G (1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in the local community newspaper.
