Wow, it’s hard to believe that 2017 draws to an end. Room Six is having an exciting time ending the year with some exhilarating activities. Scroll right to the end to see what we’ve been up to!
To be part of the Senior Syndicate there is an expectation to do duties throughout the year. Room Six works hard to ensure we empty all the paper recycling bins, food scraps into the worms farm, as well as ensuring the NZ flag flies with pride within Pukeoware School daily. As a thank you to all senior students, we got to go to Rainbow’s End for the day. Here are few photos of our day out.
This Term we have been reading the book Wonder. As an added bonus the movie came out in December. Of course we had to go… but how? We made a plan to hold a bake sale. We were excited to add up all the money we made. We had enough to go and buy a small treat as well!
Here are some of the yummy items we sold.
Yay, it was movie time! There was not a dry eye in the theatre! We have learnt a lot from this book about being kind to others, no matter what they look like or how they behave. We got to learn about a boy called Kobe, in Taranaki, who also suffers from the same syndrome as Auggie in the book. We wrote letters to Kobe and we sent him a small gift.
Understanding how to be safe around water is one of the most important things to learn when living in a country where we are surrounded in water. We were lucky enough to spend a morning learning about water safety. We got to assist a fellow student, who was drowning, out of the water. We also learned how to huddle together to stay afloat.
