BOT Bulletin – 11 August 2017

The Board of Trustees regrets to advise that Eamonn Kelly has resigned, effective immediately, as Principal of Pukeoware School due to personal reasons. Eamonn completed his last day with the school on Wednesday, 9th August 2017.

Whilst the Board has been considering its options for the appointment of an Acting Principal to commence in Term 4, Eamonn’s early departure at short notice has necessitated that Deputy Principal, Kim Michie, step into this role with immediate effect and until further notice. As such, Ms Michie will be released from her classroom duties from Monday, 14th August 2017. Parents and caregivers of children in Room 4 will receive further communication early next week outlining the ways in which the day-to-day learning of these students will be supported during this period of change.

The Board remains committed to ensuring that disruption within the school is minimal throughout the transition to a new Principal, and will confirm an Acting Principal appointment for the remainder of the year as soon as possible.

The Board acknowledges that change is hard for any school community, but believes it is incumbent on all of us as parents, staff and trustees to do all that we can to support our children through these changes. We would like to thank you in advance for your support of Ms Michie, our staff and the children during this transition.

The Board would like to reiterate that the process to recruit a new Principal has begun, with a new appointment likely to commence in Term 1, 2018. As part of this process, the Board has resolved to engage the services of a NZSTA (NZ School Trustees Association) Endorsed Consultant to provide knowledge and expertise to ensure a robust appointment outcome. In coming weeks, the Board will also conduct a survey of staff, parents and students to determine key attributes required in a new Principal.

Anyone wishing to contact the Board regarding this matter may email justine@pukeoware.school.nz.

The Board will continue to provide updates as the process advances.

Kind Regards,

Justine Gustafson
Chairperson
